Connecting the world

Weidmuller USA has launched a web-based Online Weidmuller Configurator (WMC) for designing DIN-rail terminal strip layouts in a browser. The tool is designed to support a cloud-based workflow from layout creation through review and production, allowing designs to be shared by link for collaboration and revision without local software installation.

The Online WMC includes an Assembly Assist Mode that provides step-by-step placement guidance using visual instructions. This feature is intended to reduce assembly errors by standardizing the build sequence and making terminal-strip assembly easier to follow for technicians or staff without electrical design backgrounds.

The configurator also supports procurement and production handoff. Users can request quotes and order fully assembled terminal strips either directly or through distributors, with expedited options available through a Fast Delivery Service. This approach is intended to reduce manual configuration steps between design and ordering while improving repeatability of builds.

To improve manufacturability, the tool includes an optimization function that can recommend alternative connection technologies aligned with production needs, such as push-in or snap-in terminations. Existing WMC projects can be imported into the online environment, allowing teams with prior designs to transition to the web-based workflow without rebuilding configurations from scratch.
