HD Air Studio has supplied its Infinity MR-PRO gimbal for integration into Alpha Wind’s DragonSky project, a drone-based system designed for advanced wind turbine blade inspection.
The project enables complete 3D reconstruction of rotor geometry in motion, supporting enhanced monitoring and analysis of blade pitch performance.
Custom Gimbal Solution for DragonSky
For this application, the Infinity MR-PRO was customized with a slipring, allowing continuous 360° rotation without cable management issues. This modification ensures uninterrupted operation during extended drone inspection missions, particularly where precision and reliability are critical.
The system stabilizes in-house LIDAR with microPC and camera payloads, providing the accuracy required for complex geometry mapping. The gimbal has been successfully validated under operating conditions typical of DragonSky missions:
- Temperature range: 5–40°C
- Wind speeds: 2–12 m/s
- Weather: No rain or light drizzle
Integration with DJI Platforms
The customized gimbal is currently deployed on the DJI Matrice 350 platform, with future integration planned for the DJI M400. Its adaptability makes it well-suited for a variety of professional UAV inspection tasks.
